Lunch for Mrs. Kallies's class is at 11:02 a.m. to 11:32 a.m.
We switch classes at 11:55 a.m.
Recess time is 1:00 to 1:20 p.m. If your child has a birthday you can send cookies or cupcakes for recess.
School is out at 3:35 p.m.
Attendance: Please remember we teach up to the end of the day. Your child's education is very important and missed instruction that does not include written work cannot be made up.
If your child has a doctor's appointment, be sure to get documentation for your child's attendance records. If your child gets sick before 10 a.m. and goes home, he is counted absent for the day.
Homework - Mrs. Beck
READING HOMEWORK - Students must have their Homework Reading Log signed every night, Monday through Thursday. There are two steps to their homework in reading. They must read 20 minutes and then get you to sign their homework. They can fill it out, all you need to do is sign. I have told them to chase you around the house, as it is their responsibility to be sure it is signed. If your working hours make it difficult, please check it when you get home or in the morning. This IS a reading grade during the 9 week grading period. Please also sign the agenda, as their spelling and math homework is also there.
A.M. Class - Their spelling words are from Words Their Way. Spelling homework for the morning class involves word sorts. We will be doing initial assessments in the first weeks. Your child may get their new words on a day of the week other than Monday, and their test will not necessarily be on Friday. The groups will be staggered for instruction, practice and assessment.
P.M. Spelling is sent home every Monday (or Tuesday on four-day weeks) and homework is due Friday. The words will either be synonyms or vocabulary words relating to the literature we are studying/reading. Those may be on www.spellingcity.com. They may be posted by me, but with all the things to remember, I may forget to put them on. If I don't, your child should type them in. When they do, make them say the letters out loud. The more senses they use, the better they remember it - spell it out loud, type it, look at it. If your child finds it challenging to be still, have them study moving around by stomping, hopping as they spell, etc.
Homework - Mrs. Kallies
Mrs. Kallies gives math homework every Tuesday and Thursday. Students turn it in the very next day, completed.
Red Folders sent home on Fridays
Red folders are sent home every Friday and include graded papers and a conduct grade. After you have seen their work, please sign on the page to the left. Take out your child's work to keep, unless corrections have been made and returned. Ocassionally we don't get them out until Monday, so thanks for your patience.
The weeks of parent conferences we do NOT send home the red folders. You will get them during parent conferences.
