The New Look of Crosby ISD Baseball

The family-owned turf business has donated over $24000 of special sod grass to resurface the Crosby High School baseball field. The job, which called for over 200 pallets of new sod and about 90,000 square feet of new grass, was completed over a two day period. Additional help came from Vincent Turf which completed the installation with a 30% discount. Representing Vincent Turf was Chad Vincent whose mother is a special education diagnostician for Crosby ISD. Landscaping work that included grading and leveling for adequate drainage was donated by a Huffman company named Triple B Services, L.L.P. in the amount of almost $4000.

Murff Turf Farms was started by Bill Murff who was an agriculture teacher for Crosby ISD in the early 1970s and also a community member who served on the school board. The company is now managed by Scott Murff, Rene Martin, and Lindy Murff. Lindy, who was on the Crosby ISD school board from 2002 to 2005, noted that the field was in a state of disrepair needing help with drainage, grass, and other groundwork maintenance.

Dr. Hendrix (District Superintendent), Kevin Flanigan (Athletic Director), Marcus Thompson (Head Coach for Varsity Baseball, Debbie Frank (Crosby HS Principal),
and all athletic staff involved in baseball want to express their sincere gratitude for
the generosity and help provided by Murff Turf Farms, Vincent Turf, and Triple B Services. To demonstrate their appreciation, district staff has already promised
some homeruns, grand slams, and game victories this spring on a new field that
can’t be beat !!!
