Crosby journalism wins back to back team championships

The Crosby High School UIL Journalism Team competed at the Hamshire Fannett UIL Academic Meet on Jan. 13, winning 1st place large school journalism team for the fifth consecutive year. Placings include: Newswriting –4th  Erin Valentine, 5th Sierra Baumbach; Feature Writing – 1st Cara Strickhausen; Editorial Writing – 2nd  Erin Valentine, 5th Jennifer Castro; Headline Writing – 2nd Jojo Crowder.  The journalism team also competed at the Goose Creek Memorial UIL meet on Jan. 14, again earning the top team award. Individual placings include:  Newswriting – 1st Sierra Baumbach, 2nd Erin Valentine, 3rd Amanda Stiles; Feature Writing – 1st Erin Valentine, 2nd Jojo Crowder, 4th Sierra Baumbach; Editorial Writing – 1st Erin Valentine, 2nd Cara Strickhausen, 3rd Rosaline Cruz, 5th Aaron Preston; Headline Writing – 1st Erin Valentine, 2nd Jojo Crowder, 3rd Aaron Preston, 4th Mikayla Thomas, 5th Rosaline Cruz
