Once a Cougar ALWAYS a Cougar
In memory of Cody Stephens
Go BIG or Go Home
November 2nd 2012:
We honored one of our Student athletes who died un-expectantly. Cody Stephens was a part of the class of 2012 and was a vital member of the Cougar football team. Joining us for the evening were Cody’s Parents, Scott and Melody Stephens, brother Clay and sister Katie. Also joining them in the stands were Grandparents Vance and Frankie Stephens, and his Aunt Pam Parsons. The Stephens family wanted to recognize the Mouton Family, who lost their son Jason about 3 weeks ago, in a similar manner that they lost Cody. Jason’s Father, Alex Mouton was in the audience for the evening.
The Stephens and Mouton Families worked hard with the UIL to help implement mandatory heart screenings for all high school athletes. With this effort, they hope to save lives and raise awareness of heart disease. Their hope is to keep other families from going through what they have been through, the loss of a child, brother, cousin, and friend.
A video tribute to Cody was played on the scoreboard screen prior to Superintendent, Dr. Keith Moore, Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Jeff Riordan, and the 2012 Crosby Cougars presenting the family with Cody’s framed jersey that will be hung in the field house in memory and honor of him. We appreciate the Stephens family and the work they do for the Crosby community. We want them to know they will always be a part of the Cougar family, and know that once a Cougar, you will always be a Cougar. Go Big or Go Home!!
