Dual Language

Crosby ISD offers dual language one way in PK-5th and dual language two way in K-5. The goals of both models are for students to become bilingual, biliterate and multicultural. Student are taught in both English and Spanish. Crosby ISD is committed to provide comprehensive programming to meet the linguistic, cognitive and affective needs of all English learners. Our district will provide the following bilingual ESL programs models:
One-Way Dual Language
The One-Way Dual Language Program in Crosby ISD is a bilingual education program for Spanish dominant speakers with the goal to develop linguistic proficiency and literacy skills in both languages. This program is available at Crosby Kindergarten Center, Barrett Elementary, Drew Elementary and Newport Elementary.
Two-Way Dual Language
The Two-Way Dual Language Program in Crosby ISD is an instructional model integrating English dominant speakers and Spanish dominant speakers to achieve bilingual, biliterate and bicultural outcomes by delivering instruction in both languages. This program is available at Crosby Kindergarten Center, Barrett Elementary, Drew Elementary and Newport Elementary.
ESL
Content-Based ESL
The Content-Based ESL Program offered at Crosby ISD elementary campuses integrates language instruction with content areas to meet the linguistic and academic needs of English Learners in a self-contained setting. This program is available at Barrett Elementary, Crosby Elementary, Drew Elementary and Newport Elementary.
Pull-Out ESL
The Pull-Out ESL Program offered at Crosby ISD secondary campuses provides an English Language arts course taught by an ELAR/ESL certified teacher integrating content area instruction and language skills to meet the linguistic and academic needs of English Learners. This program is available at Crosby Middle School and Crosby High School.
