Benefits

Benefits Overview

Crosby ISD offers a comprehensive benefits package to support the health and financial well-being of employees and their dependents. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, along with a variety of additional options. Our benefits plan year runs from September 1 through August 31.

All active full-time, benefit-eligible employees receive a no-cost $10,000 life insurance policy. For employees enrolled in the medical insurance, Crosby ISD currently contributes $273 per month and will increase that contribution to $323 per month effective 09/01/2025.

Open Enrollment

Annual Open Enrollment for all benefits will begin in late July.  All benefit elections and changes take effect on September 1.

New Hires

All new employees become eligible for health benefits on the first of the month following their start date.

New hires will have 31 days from their start date to enroll for benefits.

New employees must log onto the Crosby ISD Benefits HUB to enroll in or decline coverage within 31 days of their hire date. Even if declining all coverage, employees are required to designate a beneficiary for the District-provided $10,000 life insurance policy.

If a beneficiary is not assigned, the life insurance benefit will be distributed according to Texas state law and probate, which may result in significant delays for surviving family members. Additionally, if a minor (under age 18) is named as a beneficiary, the benefit will be held in accordance with Texas law and probate procedures, potentially delaying access until a legal guardian is appointed or the child reaches the age of majority.

Failure to take action within the 31-day enrollment window will result in automatic declination of all benefits and no beneficiary will be recorded for the district-paid life insurance.

Mid-Year Benefit Changes

Employees may make changes to their benefits outside of Open Enrollment only if they experience a Qualifying Life Event (QLE). To make a change, you must notify the benefits office within 31 days of the event and provide the required documentation.

Examples of Qualifying Life Events include:

  • Changes in household:

    • Marriage or divorce

    • Legal separation or annulment

    • Birth, adoption, or placement for adoption

    • Death of a spouse or dependent child

  • Loss of health coverage:

    • Loss of coverage due to a spouse’s employment change

    • Loss of job-based coverage

    • Loss of eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP

    • Turning 26 and losing coverage under a parent’s plan

Failure to notify within the 31-day window may result in loss of eligibility to make changes until the next Open Enrollment period.

Please visit the Crosby ISD Benefits Hub for detailed information on all benefits offered through the District – including plan designs, premiums, forms, and other helpful resources.
