Crosby ISD Industry Partner, Kuraray America, to Offer Crosby Students Scholarships

We are thrilled to announce that Crosby ISD industry partner, Kuraray America, Inc. (KAI), will be offering scholarship opportunities to Crosby High School seniors this coming spring.  Kuraray has committed to offering four scholarships totaling $7,000.  Three scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each and one scholarship in the amount of $4,000 will be presented at the Crosby High School Awards Ceremony on April 22, 2019, at 6pm.  “Community engagement and the promotion of STEM eduation is a core value of Kuraray. Our partnership with Crosby High School is the perfect opportunity to further encourage secondary education in Houston’s youth,”,Jennifer Murphy,  marketing specialist at KAI.

We are so thankful for the support and outreach that Kuraray America has extended to our students. Last year, students from Crosby Middle School and Crosby High School had the opportunity to tour the Kuraray Septon plant in Pasadena to learn about a variety of careers available in the oil and gas industry.  Employees met with students to answer their questions and discuss post-secondary paths that led them to successful careers with the company.  It was an inspiring opportunity for our students.

“Kuraray America serves as a member of the Crosby ISD Career and Technical Advisory Committee and participates in the Crosby High School Career Day,” said Todd Hicks, Executive Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction. “Their willingness to share time and knowledge, accompanied by their recent financial generosity, defines their desire to shape the successful future of the students of Crosby ISD and that of the Petrochemical Industry.”
