Crosby ISD Reinstates Full-Day PreK in 2019-2020

Crosby ISD will be reinstating full-day pre-K for the 2019-2020 school year.  Recently, Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 3 into law which includes funding for full-day pre-K for low-income and other qualifying students. Students may qualify based on one or more of the following criteria:

  • Economically disadvantaged
  • English Language Learners
  • Child of an active duty member of the armed forces
  • Child of a member of the armed forces who was killed or injured while on active duty
  • Homeless
  • In foster care
  • Children of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award:
       1. A peace officer under Section 3106.002
       2. A firefighter under Section 3106.00
       3. An emergency medical first responder under Section 3106.004

We are thankful that our legislature recognizes the value of a high-quality, full-day pre-K program for eligible students and we welcome the return of this invaluable program to Crosby ISD.  Breakfast and lunch will continue to be federally funded at no cost to students. Other preparations are underway as we look ahead to the start of the school year.  It will be here before we know it!

Students who may be eligible for pre-K should attend New Student Registration during one of the following times at the Crosby Kindergarten Center (see flyer for additional information):

 August 7 8am-11am OR 1pm-3:30pm

  • August 8th 8am-11am OR4pm-6:30pm
  • August 9th 8am-11am OR 1pm-3:30pm

If you went through the Early Registration process this past spring, there is no need to attend New Student Registration in August.  We are excited about the year to come and an opportunity to work with each of your families.
