Crosby Middle School instructor named Outstanding Middle School Science Teacher of the Year

Crosby, TX (October 7, 2022) - Crosby Middle School science teacher, Ms. Amanda Canada, has been named the best middle school science teacher in the state of Texas by the Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT).

Ms. Canada was named the 2022 Outstanding Middle School Science Teacher of the Year today. This is a huge honor for a passionate instructor who shares her love of science with seventh and eighth grade science students.

Ms. Canada said, "It is an exceptional honor to receive such a distinguished award. I hope to inspire others to reach their dreams, in and out of the classroom, and their full potential in science education within the state of Texas. I am thankful for the opportunity to be nominated and to receive this award."

Ms. Canada is a true gem at Crosby Middle School, having founded the CMS STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Club. Ms. Canada has taught at Crosby ISD for the last 11 years.

Ms. Canada will receive her award and recognition at the Science Teachers Association of Texas Conference for the Advancement of Science Teaching (or STATCAST22) in November in Dallas. 

STAT said Ms. Canada is one of the state's top educators who "exemplify excellence in and dedication to science education."
