Crosby, TX (February 27, 2023) - More than 400 Crosby ISD third graders have spent the last three months reading, reading, and reading. Today, we found out that Newport Elementary is among the Top 4 Schools in Read to the Final Four, a bracket-style literacy challenge. All four elementary campuses in CISD made the Elite 8 bracket. Third-grade students at Newport Elementary, Barrett Elementary, Drew Elementary, and Crosby Elementary have read more than 9 million minutes since November 7, 2022.

Our students' dedication put them on the leaderboard going into the heart of the reading challenge that coincides with the return of the Men's Final Four to Houston. Our third graders visited Crosby High School for a giant reading rally last fall, and they've also celebrated read-ins at each campus this month. We can't wait to see how well they do in the next round that will determine the Final Four schools.
