Crosby, TX (May 10, 2023) - Congratulations to the Class of 2023 Valedictorian, Tristen Flores, and Salutatorian, Kerigan Smith. Read a little more about them below. We are looking forward to their speeches during the Crosby High School Graduation Ceremony on Friday, May 26, at 7:30pm, at Cougar Stadium.
TRISTEN FLORES, VALEDICTORIAN
GPA: 5.139
Parents: Alfredo Flores and Alba Pineda
Honors: Member of NHS, NEHS, Rho Kappa, and Mu Alpha Theta.
Activities: Member of the Crosby High School Band all four years, and a member of the Robotics Club during sophomore year. Member of the 2022 Macy’s Great American Marching Band for the Thanksgiving parade, constant success at Band Regional competitions, and receiving 1st in regionals and 3rd in overall state with my robotics team for the 2021 FIRST robotics competition.
College plans: Rice University, majoring in mechanical engineering.
What made your time special at Crosby High School: Being a member of the band is what made Tristen’s time special at CHS. It felt like I had a second family at school who I could really bond and make memories with.
KERIGAN SMITH, SALUTATORIAN
GPA: 5.074
Parents: Lisa Vasquez, Jeremy Smith, and Ray Vasquez
Honors: Member of NHS and Science NHS, Treasurer for Rho Kappa, Vice President for Mu Alpha Theta, AP Scholar.
Activities: Flute section leader of the Crosby High School band.
College plans: University of Texas at Austin, majoring in biochemistry.
What made your time special at Crosby High School: Being a part of the band program made Kerigan’s time at Crosby memorable because it created a unique sense of family and teamwork that would be hard to recreate. All the hard work and afterschool practices were worth the thrilling and monumental products the band created. Another experience that made her time special at Crosby High School was when the football team advanced to State.
While she’s not particularly involved in sports, being in the band means Kerigan had a front-row seat in the community and the feeling of unity that that year’s football team brought to the school. The school spirit that year was quite incredible to witness.
