Community Stories from Crosby ISD Earn 3 Gold Star Awards

Crosby, TX (March 3, 2023) - Three compelling stories from the Crosby ISD communities won Gold Star Awards presented by the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA). "Wall of Positivity: Recruiting School Volunteers," "Founding Families of Barrett," and "Cougar Superfan" were all awarded in the Video Feature Story category during the 61st annual TSPRA Conference in Fort Worth.

2022 GOLD STAR AWARD - WALL OF POSITIVITY: RECRUITING SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS

"Wall of Positivity: Recruiting School Volunteers" tells the story of how churches in Crosby and Barrett Station answered Superintendent Patterson's call to volunteer on campuses and be positive role models for our students.

2022 GOLD STAR AWARD - FOUNDING FAMILIES OF BARRETT

"Founding Families of Barrett" focused on the founding of Barrett Station by former enslaved person Harrison Barrett. We met his descendants and shared their story of trying to create a museum out of the old homestead along Highway 90 in East Harris County.

2022 GOLD STAR AWARD - COUGAR SUPERFAN

"Cougar Superfan" profiled Mr. Otis Monday. He has been a Cougar fan since the 1970's, and he has attended almost every football game in the ensuing decades.
